Earthwork & Drainage

E.T. Simonds performs storm sewer and earthwork for everything from small parking lots to interstate highways. We use the most up-to-date technology on all of our equipment including GPS capabilities. Many times, the pavement is only as good as what it is built upon. E.T. Simonds takes great pride and caution in ensuring a good drainage system and subgrade are in place before the pavement is constructed.

Structures

E.T. Simonds maintains a highly skilled workforce that is capable of building many types of structures including box culverts, precast deck beam bridges, steel span structures, retaining walls, and spillways. E.T. Simonds has a long history of building quality, long-lasting structures for IDOT and the municipalities in southern Illinois.

E.T. Simonds specializes in many types of concrete paving construction. We perform parking lots, sidewalks, driveways, curb and gutter, and many forms of pavement. We maintain a quality and diverse line of equipment to meet whatever your project may entail. Many of our customers are faced with an aging infrastructure that has surpassed its useful life. E.T. Simonds is here to help. We have the experience to assist you in deciding what your options are for all kinds of pavement maintenance.

Quality Control

We maintain a well-trained and highly experienced group of individuals in our quality control department. We take quality control very serious at every level of this company. We stand behind our projects longevity and our staff is here to prove why we can. We maintain four labs for testing aggregate, asphalt, concrete pavements and structures which are each stocked with the most up to date equipment available. Some labs even operate 24 hours a day just so the crews on the next shift have data results from the previous day’s production. We are also involved with producing mix designs for both concrete and asphalt projects.

Rotomilling

We offer rotomilling as a service to remove or re-profile existing asphalt pavements. Many times this is necessary before new construction can begin especially when fixed drainage structures are present. This operation is also used to create a new profile of the existing pavement prior to placing the surface layer.

Brick Pavement

Constructing brick pavements is a process that was much more popular a century ago than it is today. Although not as economical today as other types of construction, it still holds a certain allure just as it did many years ago.
